Fullbeck - 27th February 2005

Race Report

On the brand new CRG road rebel for the first race of the year at Fulbeck and a chance to see whether the new kart was as good as promised. It wasn’t, it was better!

Heat 1 – Starting right at the back of the grid for this one Jack had an awful start ending up on the grass after avoiding a collision between Andrew Richardson and Jason Tingle. In the end all Jack could manage was a 7th, so not a good start to the day.

Heat 2 – On p5 for this one and after a reasonable start was on the bumper of Steven Hopewell and on lap 5 Jack managed to pass him for 3rd but couldn’t quite snatch 2nd off number 51 Josh Fielding. Kris Young took the win and the fastest lap of the race.

Heat 3 - Starting pole for this one and a clean start meant Jack kept 1st after the first corner and after a tense race Jack managed to cling on for his first win of the day.

Final – After an average set of heats Jack managed to secure 4th for the final. After a hectic start Jack managed to come out of the first corner in 4th, but for the first few laps was under heavy pressure from Jason Tingle, but on lap 4 Jacks kart started to come on and he immediately caught up with the leading group and managed to pass Josh Fielding into the second chicane and a lap later punished Hopewell with the same move and with 2 laps to go Jack was lying about 5 kart lengths behind number 33 Kris Young the leader, but on that lap Jack put in the fastest lap of the race as he took the lead and held it for the last lap, to secure his 2nd win since starting karting, what a great birthday present!
