PF International 50th Anniversary Meeting, - 2nd July 2006

Heat 1 – Jack started 9th on the grid for the first heat of the day but made a bad start to the race as he got pushed on at the first hairpin and dropped back to 11th. Jack was quickly back up to 5th though and chasing the leaders until a red flag was brought out due to an incident at the complex. When racing got back underway Jack made no hesitations as he took full advantage of a collision at the second hairpin as he swept through to 2nd. Jack then chased down Sam Park and passed him on lap 5. From then on Jack pulled away to win buy just under 3 seconds.

Heat 2 – Jack lined up 4th on the grid for the second heat of the day and he made an incredible start as he swept round the outside at turn 1 to take the lead of the race. Jack then managed to pull out a comfortable gap to win his second heat of the day despite some late pressure from JM racing’s Luke Varley.

Heat 3 – Jack started 28th on the grid for the final heat of the day and after a great start to the day he hoped to make things even better. Jack quickly started to move up through the field and by half race distance he was really starting to turn the pace up as he set some blisteringly fast laps on his way to a superb 4th place from 28th on the grid. Jack also set the fastest lap of the day nearly 4 tenths of a second ahead of his rivals.

Pre Final – After a set of great heats Jack started the Pre Final on pole alongside Daniel Payne. Jack made a good start and managed to keep his lead through the first few corners. Jack managed to edge away from Daniel Payne, despite some pressure in the early stages of the race to take a comfortable win from 2nd place Daniel Payne.

Grand Final – Pole for the Grand Final and Jack made no mistakes off the start line as he held his lead through out the first lap. Daniel Payne applied some pressure to Jack early on but as the kart came on Jack managed to pull away to win by 3.8 seconds from Payne, Stephenson, Lassu, Fielding and Robert Browning who rounded out the top 6.

“ In terms of racing this was an inch perfect weekend for me where everything was perfect from the chassis to the engine and I would like to thank Protrain racing and Steve Ogden my engine builder for this. On the other hand after the events which occurred on the Saturday evening when my ex mechanic Bryan Hornby and Alan Wones died tragically in a car crash, it was a very hollow victory. I would like to dedicate this win to Bryan who helped me progress as a driver so much last year and the year before and was a top bloke probably the best and was a great guy to be around. He will be sadly missed. R.I.P mate.”
