Kartmasters GP - PF International

6th August 2006

Heat 1 – Jack started the first heat of the day from 22nd on the grid. Jack quickly started picking his way through the pack eventually finishing a positive 8th position despite some problems with the chassis.

Heat 2 – Jack was on grid 7 for the next heat but he didn’t manage to get round the first corner as he was launched into the air by another driver and went straight onto the grass until he hit the barriers where he bent an axle. Jack managed to get it to the finish though eventually finishing a disappointing 18th.

Heat 3 – Jack started the final heat of the day from 7th. Jack made a reasonable start and was straight up into 5th after 2 laps. Jack then picked his way up to 3rd but the front 2 had already gone and Jack had settle for 3rd.

Pre – Final – Jack was on grid 17 for the pre-final after his accident in heat 2. But Jack didn’t mess about and quickly started to make his way through the pack. By lap 8 he was up to 8th and was catching the leading 7 quickly. Jack then made his way past Lassu for 7th and then made his way quickly up into 4th. Jack was now right behind 3rd placeman David Sutton going into the last lap. Sutton defended heavily and there was no immediate way past. As they came up to the line Jack slowed down to let Stephenson pass so that he would line up on the inside of the grid for the grand final.

Final – Jacks start didn’t quite go to plan and he dropped back after the first lap but quickly made his way back up to 7th despite another driver re overtaking him under a yellow flag. But Jack was struggling with understeer into the corners which was causing him big problems off the second hairpin. Jack struggled the whole race and could make no more progress eventually finishing a frustrating 6th.

Jack went back to P.F.International for a test day a week later to try solve the problem. Jack posted a faster time than he had at the race meeting with the same tyres and the handling issues seemed to have been resolved.
