Rowrah

April 9th 2006

Heat 1 – Jack started 26th on the grid for the first heat of the day. Jack got a decent start and was quickly moving up through the field and was up to 12th by the end of lap 4 but Jack could go no further as he picked up a puncture in his right front tyre. Jack quickly fell back to last place not the start that he had hoped for. John Stewart took the win and the fastest lap.

Heat 2 – Jack lined up 12th on the grid for the second heat of the day but this time he didn’t make a great start and had to take to the grass to avoid an accident at the first corner. Jack quickly started to make progress through the field and was up to 3rd by the flag. Andrew Tooley took the win from Matt Hartley with Jack close in 3rd.

Heat 3 – 3rd on the grid for the final heat of the day and Jack got a great start and was up into 1st by the first hairpin. From then on Jack was able to control the race but did have to react to some late pressure from number 16 Andrew Tooley.

Final – After two good heats and one disastrous heat, Jack qualified 6th on the grid for the final. Jack was quick off the line and was up to 4th in front of Jack Goff after the first lap. Jack was now right behind Matt Hartley coming out of the first hairpin. But an accident on the previous lap had ended with a driver cracking their radiator and anti freeze spilling on to the track just after the first hairpin. Jack just managed to keep it together as he hit the anti freeze and ran wide on to the grass. Jack was now up to 2nd and managed to edge in front of Goff down the back straight. But Goff managed to reply a lap later and was back into the lead as Jack ran wide on the exit of turn 2. But in the exact same place as before Jack retook the lead and managed to extend his lead to eventually win by 2.1 seconds ahead of Andrew Tooley, John Stewart and Matt Hartley, Hartley also took the fastest lap of the race at a 48:76.

"It’s always nice to win and I now feel confident ahead of next weekends British Open Championship, which is also to be held at Rowrah” Jack Hawksworth
