BRDC Stars of Tomorrow Round 4
Shenington - 4th June 2006
|
Heat 1 – Jack started the first heat of the day from 16th on the grid but was quickly into 14th after the first lap. But the race was mayhem with incidents nearly every single lap but Jack had managed to pull himself up to 10th until a slight error when trying to pass Ayrton Hirst cost him 4 places as he out braked himself at the Stratford hairpin. Jack managed to once again pull himself back up to 11th but could do no more before the race ended. Daniel Payne took the win with David Sutton taking the fastest lap.
Heat 2 – After a poor first heat Jack looked to put things right and from grid 6 got a fast start and was quickly up to 4th Jack then passed Gemma Stephenson for 3rd. But struggling with the chassis setup Jack was later relegated back down to 4th and that’s where he finished.
Heat 3 – A few alterations to the kart setup and Jack was once again quick off the line from 9th on the grid. Jack was up to 5th after the first lap and quickly began to make his way through the pack. By lap 5 he was into 2nd and chasing down the leader Daryl Henderson and with the chassis now working very well Jack managed to catch Daryl and take the lead of the race with just 2 laps left and then hang on for a well deserved victory.
Final – After a good last heat Jack was confident with his kart setup and knew that if he could get away quickly he would be in with a chance from 4th on the grid. Jack was straight up to 3rd after the first corner but as the karts screamed down to the Stratford hairpin Jack was pushed from behind and forced wide losing him a bunch of time and a position. But Jack quickly regained 3rd from Stephenson on lap 2 and was now charging after the leading pair of David Sutton and Daniel Lloyd who had pulled about 10 kart lengths out on the rest of the field. Jack was passed Lloyd on lap 6 and was now charging after the race leader and by lap 9 he had shortened the gap considerably as had Daniel Lloyd who had been pushing Jack all the way. But on the last three laps Jack started to lose a bit of time as the tyres began to over heat and had to settle for 2nd behind David Sutton and just in front of Daniel Lloyd who also set the fastest lap of the race at a 43:65. Daniel Payne was 4th Gemma Stephenson 5th and Daryl Henderson rounded out the top 6.
