Three Sisters - 30th January 2005

Race Report

The second race of the season at Three Sisters and there was a big grid of 27 drivers

Heat 1 – On grid 13 for the first heat of the day. In damp conditions Jack made a good start and was up to 9th by the end of the first lap Jack continued to make progress up through the field till the last lap when he followed Nico Angelides through for a solid 5th position. 2 tenths off the fastest lap of the race set by Greg Harper.

Heat 2 – On p14 for the start of the second heat. Things started badly after Jack had to drive over the grass at the start of the race to avoid an incident. Jack ended up well down the field. But after a strong drive managed to force his way back up to 10th. Only 1 tenth of off the fastest lap, again set by Greg Harper.

Final – After a 10th and 5th position in the heats Jack managed to qualify 6th for the final and what an exiting final it turned out to be. After the first lap Jack managed to gain a place and was up to 5th and close behind the leaders but at the end of conrod straight Stephen Larkin managed to pass Jack and Jack was back down to 6th . After about 3 laps the top 7 were separated by nothing more than a second and a half until Jack tried to overtake David Thompson at the end of pits straight but ended up hitting a damp patch and was pushed back down to 10th. In the end Jack managed to work his way back up to 7th but after being so close to a podium finish it was a disappointing result.
