British Super 4 ICC championship - Round 6
Fullbeck - 28th October 2007

Testing – We were quick during Saturday testing and the kart felt very good. I was confident in the dry conditions but Sundays weather looked bleak so there wasn’t much point reading into it that much.
Heat 1 – I was starting on grid 22 for the first heat of the day and I managed to get a good start and pass a few people off the line. Unfortunately there was some contact up ahead and 7 or more karts span round and I ended up getting caught in it. I damaged my track rod and trundled round to finish a disappointing 17th.
Heat 2 – After a bad start to the day it was crucial I had a good second heat. I was starting on grid 9 and made a clean start away from the line and was up to 7th before the first corner. It wasn’t to be though as I got hit from the side and slid off into the gravel trap. I rejoined in last place. The track conditions were not full dry and I was able to make good progress passing a whole line of karts before coming up behind Will Hibbert. I took an inside line into the hairpin whilst he flicked out wide at the last minute I clipped him and lost a lot of ground and places. I managed to come back through and finish 10th.
Heat 3 – The weather had taken a turn for the worst and it was now pouring it down. I was starting on grid 3 and was into the lead by the end of the first lap. The kart felt great and from then on it was a pretty straight forward affair as I cruised to victory in my final heat.
Final – After 2 bad heats and a victory I lined up 10th on the grid. To secure 2nd in the championship I just had to finish in the top six. After one false start we were finally racing and I got battered once again into the first corner losing a few places and falling back to 14th. The track was really greasy but fortunately I was able to make my way through to 4th. This was enough to finish 2nd in the championship which was quite an achievement in my first year in the class and after lying a distant 43rd in the championship table after the first round.
I would like to thank Andy Fairless Racing for their excellent racing engines and there technical support, Tim Gillard for producing a great chassis and my dad for mechanicing and supporting me.
Thanks guys.
