The 2011 Season
At the end of the 2010 season I made the step into car racing choosing the highly competitive Formula Renault U.K championship with the Mark Burdett Motorsport team. The first call of duty was the winter series and after only 5 days of testing I was able to take pole position on my debut and went on to take 4 in total as well as 2 podiums on my way to 3rd in the championship.
It was a great way to start this next phase of my career, I now aim to up my game again for the 2011 Formula Renault U.K championship where I'll be going all out to win the title at the first attempt in order to show the motorsport world that I belong at the highest levels of the sport.
How it all started
I started racing in 2004 at the South Yorkshire kart club in Junior Max. From the first time I sat in the kart I realised it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I spent a year racing at club level before stepping up to National and International racing and I went on to win my first International championship in 2006 when I captured the European Junior Max title with Protrain racing.
Having achieved all there was to achieve in Junior Max I moved up to Senior racing in the highly competitive KZ categories. I spent a year racing at National level before moving on to the International scene where over a period of 3 years I would race as a factory driver for PDB Racing and Energy Corse.
It had it's up and downs with highlights being winning the Margutti Trophy, wins in the German Championship and podiums in the KZ1 European championship and KZ2 European championships. We came close to winning the European Championship in 2008 but a jump start penalty and a couple of incidents put the dampers on that.
Before I moved into single seaters I also competed in the Senior Max Kartmasters Grand Prix and on my return to the Protrain Racing team we managed to capture the title.
A nice way to end my karting career.
